We are entering into 2022 with good momentum and excitement for the new year. We have made great strides in both company and people development and are thrilled to further position our clients for success. As we set forth in 2022, our clients and partners face a variety of evolving challenges and opportunities, whether it is changing market demands, remote work, sustainability efforts, or hiring and retention. We will continue to adapt and develop our team and employees to ensure we are meeting our clients’ needs.
We are pleased to announce promotions of our staff who have shown considerable growth and commitment to building relationships, providing creative and custom solutions, and executing with quality and results in mind. We are proud to have them step into their new roles so they can best serve our clients.
Steigerwaldt is celebrating the following promotions:
- Derek Schummer – Forestry Operations Director
- Mike Delegan – Forestry Operations Director
- Richard Congdon – Project Manager

Derek B. Schummer – Forestry Operations Director
We are pleased to announce the promotion of Derek Schummer to the position of Forestry Operations Director. Derek joined Steigerwaldt in 2014 and has been a key member in our Forest Operations Department. Prior to his promotion, he served in the roles of Staff Forester, Assistant Project Forester, and Project Forester.
Derek has demonstrated project management and leadership skills that will be beneficial to the team and our clients. His focus area is maintaining and building relationships with large landowners and Timberland Investment Management Organizations. He will have direct reports and will continue efforts towards developing services, clients, and cohesion within the department.

Michael J. Delegan – Forestry Operations Director
We are pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Delegan to the position of Forestry Operations Director. Mike joined Steigerwaldt in 2020 and has been an asset to our Forest Operations Department. Prior to his promotion, he served in the role of Project Forester.
Mike leads by example, takes on new projects, and is a team player. His focus area is leading the team in the growth of our Nonindustrial Private Forest services. Mike will have direct reports and will continue efforts towards developing services, clients, and cohesion within the department.

Richard W. Congdon – Project Manager
We are pleased to announce the promotion of Rich Congdon to the position of Project Manager. Rich joined Steigerwaldt in 2020 and has been a crucial team member in supporting our Analytics, Valuation, and Technology Solutions Division. Prior to his promotion, he served in the roles of Real Estate Specialist and Assistant Analyst.
Rich’s new position as a Project Manager builds off his diverse forestry and real estate background and his dedication to meeting client’s needs by delivering quality projects on time. He will be expanding his leadership and project management roles working closely with Appraisal department staff, project partners, and our clients to facilitate successful project outcomes.
