Assistant Analyst/Real Estate Specialist

Richard W. Congdon

Rich serves as an Assistant Analyst/Real Estate Specialist at Steigerwaldt Land Services. He has been a part of the forest products and forest consulting industries since graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point with bachelor’s degrees in Forest Administration and Utilization and Forest Management. Rich is involved with the Analysis and Technology Solutions department and the Appraisal department, where he is responsible for assisting with stumpage valuations, various forest products analysis, processing inventory and stumpage volumes and values, appraisal report writing, vacant land valuations, and property inspections.

Through his career, he has gained extensive forestry experience, specializing in Lake States large-tract timberland management and data analysis. He has a broad skill set and range of knowledge including client relations, contract negotiation and administration, data quality assurance/quality control, design and implementation of timber harvest and inventory programs, assisting with timberland acquisitions and dispositions, third-party certification audits, and heavy equipment operation. Rich is a member of the Society of American Foresters. He has also represented large landowners on forest management committees.

Senior Appraiser

Robert L. Karl, ACF

EXPERIENCE
Appraisal: Current main job duty is as senior staff appraiser. Earned Certified General Appraiser licenses in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota in April 2001. Past projects have included federal/industrial land exchanges, large tract, industrial land disposals and acquisitions, conservation easements, and other vacant forestland properties of various acreages. Took Appraisal Institute–sponsored course entitled “Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions (Yellow Book)” on November 5 and 6, 2009 in Livonia, Michigan.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Manager of Steigerwaldt’s PC Arc/Info GIS from 1991 (its implementation) to 2000. Experienced in all phases of a GIS project from initial planning to final hard copy maps.

Aerial Photo Mapping and Interpretation: Skilled in black and white, true color, and color infrared photo interpretation at scales ranging from 1:12,000 to 1:40,000 throughout the upper Midwest.

Forest Inventory and Cruising: Entry level position in June 1980. Occasional projects still arise that provide opportunities to apply his extensive field experience or assist in cruise design.

Forest Management Planning: Trained to perform all private forestland management tasks including the initial land inspection, creating a management plan, and implementing the plan through the use of timber harvesting, tree planting, or other management tools as needed.

Appraisal Assistant

Steve R. Kimble

Steve works as an Appraisal Assistant and specializes in utility easement appraisals, waterfront properties, hunting land, large tracts of forestland, and agricultural land. Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography – Cartography/GIS Option from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. Steve’s previous work as a GIS professional assists him with his current job of appraising vacant land all over Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and beyond.

In his free time, Steve enjoys almost any outdoor activity including hunting, fishing, canoeing, skiing, and backpacking.

Chairman

Edward F. Steigerwaldt, ACF

Ed is a forester and real estate appraiser with decades of experience. As owner of the Steigerwaldt companies, Ed helps direct daily business management and directs the staff of appraisers, foresters, assistants, and land managers. His appraisal experience includes a wide variety of assignments including the appraisal of waterfront, recreation, forest land, residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial property, as well as easements and individual trees and landscaping. Ed has also completed appraisals for tree damage, utility easement analyzation for effects on property values, and Christmas tree management. He currently directs real estate appraisal projects throughout Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and other states when requested. Ed has qualified as an expert witness in court proceedings in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, and California. He has given numerous presentations covering real estate and tree appraisal. Ed also has served as a Wisconsin tax assessor and has over fifty years of experience as a Christmas tree grower.

Chief Executive Officer/President

Lee Ann Steigerwaldt, ACF

Lee currently oversees and implements strategic direction and performance standards at Steigerwaldt. She is a third-generation consulting forester and business owner with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1999 from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point in Forest Management, Urban Forestry, and Philosophy. She is a certified general appraiser in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota, and an ISA certified arborist. Her prior professional experience was as a Production Arborist in Hailey, Idaho, before relocating to Tomahawk to work in the family business.

Lee offers business leadership perspective and experience in a growing and transitioning business and feels the emphasis on cultural expectations and principle values is key to thriving through transitions.

She enjoys working on the Christmas tree farm and at the maple syrup shack, and pursuing steelhead in the Brule River in northern Wisconsin with her husband, Todd. She has two children, a daughter and son. Lee is an eleven-time finisher of the Ironman triathlon and is a believer in grit, tenacity, and consistency in business, organizational, and personal achievement.

Certified General Appraiser/Senior Specialist -Environmental

Scott T. Zaremba

Scott works as a Certified General Appraiser and specializes in conservation easement appraisals, hunting land, large tracts of forestland, and agricultural land. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point and a liberal arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Marathon County. Scott has extensive knowledge of forest management and timber products as a forester with Steigerwaldt. Scott’s previous work as a forester assists him with his current job of appraising all types of property throughout Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. Scott is also trained to complete wetland delineations according to the Army Corps of Engineers guide. He is currently a member of the Society of American Foresters.

In his free time, Scott enjoys playing basketball, tennis, biking, golf, pickleball, and tabletop games. He also enjoys watching Wisconsin sports teams, including the Packers and Badgers.
