Through his career, he has gained extensive forestry experience, specializing in Lake States large-tract timberland management and data analysis. He has a broad skill set and range of knowledge including client relations, contract negotiation and administration, data quality assurance/quality control, design and implementation of timber harvest and inventory programs, assisting with timberland acquisitions and dispositions, third-party certification audits, and heavy equipment operation. Rich is a member of the Society of American Foresters. He has also represented large landowners on forest management committees.

Appraisal: Current main job duty is as senior staff appraiser. Earned Certified General Appraiser licenses in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota in April 2001. Past projects have included federal/industrial land exchanges, large tract, industrial land disposals and acquisitions, conservation easements, and other vacant forestland properties of various acreages. Took Appraisal Institute–sponsored course entitled “Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions (Yellow Book)” on November 5 and 6, 2009 in Livonia, Michigan.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Manager of Steigerwaldt’s PC Arc/Info GIS from 1991 (its implementation) to 2000. Experienced in all phases of a GIS project from initial planning to final hard copy maps.
Aerial Photo Mapping and Interpretation: Skilled in black and white, true color, and color infrared photo interpretation at scales ranging from 1:12,000 to 1:40,000 throughout the upper Midwest.
Forest Inventory and Cruising: Entry level position in June 1980. Occasional projects still arise that provide opportunities to apply his extensive field experience or assist in cruise design.
Forest Management Planning: Trained to perform all private forestland management tasks including the initial land inspection, creating a management plan, and implementing the plan through the use of timber harvesting, tree planting, or other management tools as needed.

She enjoys working on the Christmas tree farm and at the maple syrup shack, and pursuing steelhead in the Brule River in northern Wisconsin with her husband, Todd. She has two children, a daughter and son. Lee is an eleven-time finisher of the Ironman triathlon and is a believer in grit, tenacity, and consistency in business, organizational, and personal achievement.
