Meet Nick Berg
Meet Nick Berg, Division Coordinator at Steigerwaldt. Nick is responsible for supporting the Analysis, Valuation, and Technology Solutions Department through project deadline and accountability tracking, supporting project managers, and assisting with project processes. His duties also include facilitating support between departments, reviewing final products and deliverables, department invoice forecasting, reporting, and transmittals. Nick specializes in customer/client service, communication between departments, and developing work-flow processes.
Please provide a professional history introduction (prior and during your time at Steigerwaldt):
- I graduated from UW – Eau Claire in 2016 with a degree in Environmental Geography emphasizing in GIS. After graduating, my career was primarily focused around retail management and store development for a major sporting goods retailer. Wanting to get back closer to family, my wife and I moved to Northern Wisconsin where I joined Steigerwaldt Land Services just over three months ago.
Why are you passionate about this field?
- I have always been passionate about the outdoors and this field ties in directly with my degree making for an enjoyable work atmosphere.
How do you serve our clients?
- I primarily serve our clients by verifying and proofing project deliverables, generating invoices and maintaining communication lines between departments ensuring our clients get the best end product.
Why do you enjoy working at Steigerwaldt?
- The largest reason I enjoy working at Steigerwaldt is the positive work culture. I’m surrounded by highly motivated, fast moving people who push me to learn and do a better job each day.
Since you’ve worked here, how has the industry changed?
- The technology we use is constantly improving and changing the way we look and process data, parts of the industry such as carbon services are relatively new and developing rapidly.
What industry changes are you most excited about?
- A primary interest of mine is the use of UAS in forestry services so I’m excited to see that continuing to develop and potentially change the way things are approached and done in the field.
What’s your superpower?
- If you asked my wife, it would be my lack of ability to hang up a dish towel in the kitchen like a normal human.
What’s your favorite tree and why?
- Sugar Maple – My family has made maple syrup for a number of years and it brings back many fond memories for me growing up.
What’s your favorite National Park?
- Rocky Mountain, my wife and I lived near the park for a few years and actually ended up getting married in the park!
What would you do with 10 acres?
- I would love to some day have a small hobby farm.
Where do you like to go on vacation?
- Greece is on my list of places I’d like to visit!
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
- I look forward to deer hunting each fall!
