Our Roots:
Jenna Bettinger has been with Steigerwaldt for a year and a half and currently holds the title of Forestry Assistant.
What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself?
Determined, Optimistic, Caring
Which projects that you have worked on have been the most enjoyable?
So far, my favorite project has been researching new forestry accounting programs to help with our everyday stumpage entry for each timber sale we manage. The main outcome is to limit entry error and have a better system to keep track of Steigerwaldt Lockbox tickets, stumpage payments, etc. I’ve gotten to learn a lot about multiple programs and companies and talked with some really knowledgeable people in the forestry industry who have created these programs for companies like ours.
What are your biggest wins or accomplishments at Steigerwaldt?
My biggest win has been all the things I have learned about in the forestry industry, which I’ve come to love over the years. I have been able to learn so much about how the industry works: from the start of a timber sale to the end, about the role itself, and now, I get to pass that knowledge on to new employees coming on board. That’s always a great feeling. Having confidence in your job and enjoying doing it every day is always a win.
What is your favorite Steigerwaldt value and why?
Team “We.” It’s so important to have a supportive team every day. It helps the work day go by smoothly. It’s a good feeling knowing you have an awesome group of people from any department willing to help you at any time.
How do you see this value in action at work?
I see this value in action every day. If I have a question about any timber sale, MFL plan, etc., I can call, text, or walk up and ask any forester, and they don’t hesitate to help me. I see it in all departments; if one person has a lot on their plate, there’s no question that we all step up and help out where we can to help that person and or department.
