Our Roots:

Scott Crum has been with Steigerwaldt for three months and currently holds the title of Inventory Forester.

What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself?

  • Resourceful. I like to come up with unique solutions to problems that are encountered.
  • Determination. If there is something I say I will accomplish, it will get done.
  • Knowledgeable. There aren’t many topics that come up that I won’t have some amount of information on.

Which projects that you have worked on have been the most enjoyable?
I got to see three bears on one project.

What are your biggest accomplishments at Steigerwaldt?
Recovering a truck that got very stuck in some mud was very rewarding. After a day of rain, the truck recovery was difficult requiring a good distance to be traveled before getting to solid ground. Through the use of some problem-solving and good old hard work, we were able to recover the truck.

What is your favorite Steigerwaldt value and why?
Stewardship. I believe stewardship is vital to any company working in an environmental field. Not just utilizing a resource, but taking care of it so that it can be used and managed by future generations.

How do you see this value in action at work?
Practicing good silviculture when marking timber for harvests.
