Our Roots

Bret Hilliard has been with Steigerwaldt for 1 year and currently holds the title of Forester.

What are three skills or attributes that describe you?

Motivated, hardworking, and opportunistic.

Which projects that you have worked on have been the most enjoyable?

The most fun project I have worked on was a mid-story control herbicide project down in central Kentucky. It was a new type of forest management that I was able to learn about and work with while also being able to see the effects of such treatment at past treatment sites.

What are your biggest accomplishments at Steigerwaldt?

The Washburn County carbon cruise. While it was very challenging with lots of obstacles, I feel it was a huge point of stepping up for me and making a large impact as a member of the Steigerwaldt team.

What is your favorite Steigerwaldt value and why?

Flexibility is my favorite because I feel my role revolves around being flexible. Having so many different types of projects available to be able to help with and work on and being flexible to learn and make an impact in different roles and departments is a major drive for me.

How do you see this value in action at work?

The cross-department support is a very nice thing to see take place among coworkers, as well as everybody also getting opportunities to be flexible with their work/life balance.
