What services do you provide?
North of Eight Design and Marketing was founded in 2018 by Emily Gall. They help businesses show up clearly and confidently through website design, branding, content creation, social media marketing, and strategic marketing support. They work with growing businesses and small marketing departments that need a partner who can bring both creative ideas and practical execution to the table.
How do you define success in your leadership role?
I feel the most success in my leadership role when my team is empowered to take ownership over process and decision making. Seeing people grow in confidence, trust their instincts, and step into leadership in their own way is incredibly rewarding. Success for me is not just about outcomes. It is about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, and equipped to do great work without needing someone looking over their shoulder at every step.
How have you built confidence and/or resiliency over the course of your career?
A lot of my confidence has come from simply doing the work, learning through experience, and continuing to show up even when things felt uncertain. Resiliency has been built in the hard seasons – navigating challenges, solving problems in real time, and learning that not every setback is a stop sign. Over time, I have learned to trust myself more, stay flexible, and keep moving forward.
What advice do you have for women looking to grow within your field?
Trust your instincts, stay curious, and do not wait until you feel completely ready to take the next step. Some of the biggest growth moments come from being willing to figure things out as you go. I would also say that relationships matter. Lead with honesty, work hard, and do not underestimate the value of being someone people can trust.
Who was/is your role model and/or leadership mentor?
Honestly, I see a little bit of inspiration in everyone. I tend to pay close attention to people: what makes them great speakers, strong leaders, thoughtful decision makers, or just really good at connecting with others. When I notice something special in someone, I often think, “I’d like to be a little more like that.” In that way, I feel like I am always learning from the people around me and always looking for ways to grow.
