Analyst I

Scott A. Crum

Scott Crum serves as Analyst I at Steigerwaldt Land Services. He specializes in large timberland appraisals, comparable sales research and analysis, property attribute data collection and tabulation, project tracking, document preparation, field assistance for property inspections, and other on-site field work. He assists with maintaining in-house database systems to record landowner information and track important dates, file management of project documentation, and departmental support for production and distribution of project information to clients and customers. His role also includes supporting the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions department through map production and other geospatial tasks, data analysis, inventory, data processing, modeling, and forest carbon quantification and research. Additional responsibilities include project management, inventory data review and auditing.

Prior to his current position, Scott worked in the Appraisal Department supporting property appraisals ranging from small residential and commercial lots to large private ownerships. Prior to his role with the Appraisal Department, Scott worked in the Analytics and Technology Solutions Department supporting forest inventory data collection, harvest research, timber marketing, and field observations, and quality assurance and quality control of data gathered for inventory projects.

In his free time, Scott enjoys racing vintage, stock, stock appearing, and modified chainsaws, astrophotography, and gold prospecting.

Inventory and Geospatial Solutions Operations Manager

Kate A. Handberg

Kate is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions and performance of the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions department including department strategic direction, team performance, staff oversight, client relationship management, and inventory, mapping, and data management services. She is a key member of the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions team and will be involved in all management aspects of geospatial solutions, inventory project logistics and execution, and data review.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Prior to her position with Steigerwaldt, Kate was a climber and plant health care specialist for Savatree, where she performed disease treatments and became proficient in tree pruning and removal processes.

She is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture.

In her free time, Kate enjoys running, hiking, camping, and cooking.

Inventory Forester

Anika M. Johnson

Anika Johnson serves as an Inventory Forester at Steigerwaldt Land Service. She is responsible for supporting the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions department through inventory data collection, project support, and carbon cruising.

Anika holds a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin – Madison in Wildlife Ecology with a certificate in Environmental Studies.

Prior to her current position, Anika worked with the Wisconsin DNR to promote angling in urban communities.

In her free time, Anika enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, crocheting, and spending time with friends and family.

Senior Data Scientist & Carbon Project Manager

Manci Li

With specialized expertise in data science, Manci Li serves as the Senior Data Scientist & Carbon Project Manager at Steigerwaldt Land Services. In this role, Manci supports the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions department by developing advanced data analytics methodologies, implementing robust data management systems, and providing expert knowledge in applying data science to carbon projects and carbon sequestration. She skillfully guides teams through complex carbon project processes, ensuring adherence to carbon market protocols and regulatory requirements. Manci's comprehensive approach helps drive innovative solutions that bridge technological capabilities with sustainable land management practices while optimizing project outcomes through systematic protocol implementation.

Manci holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota focusing on applied data science to research. Her professional credentials include certificates from Google and AWS in data analytics and cloud technology, as well as specialized training in Forest Carbon Credits and Initiatives from Michigan State University. Prior to joining Steigerwaldt, Manci served as Lead Data and Research Scientist at Priogen Corp., where she architected enterprise-scale data solutions to streamline information management systems, optimize computational workflows, automate analytical processes, and implement machine learning models for research projects.

In her free time, Manci enjoys bouldering, golfing, cooking, playing board games, and keeping up with football.

Inventory Forester

Luke J. Peters

Luke Peters serves as an Inventory Forester at Steigerwaldt Land Services. He is responsible for supporting the Land Resource Management division through the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions department. Luke specializes in carbon inventory.

Luke holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Forest and Natural Resource Management with an emphasis in Forest Ecosystem Management & Conservation and Forest Resource Policy.

Prior to his current position, Luke was a wildland firefighter in Alaska.

In his free time, Luke enjoys camping and hiking with his family and fiancée.

Forest Inventory Project Manager

Carli J. Rashke

Carli Uher serves as a Forest Inventory Project Manager at Steigerwaldt Land Services. She is responsible for supporting the Inventory and Geospatial Solutions division through preparation, planning, and leadership of inventory projects, oversight of data review, plot production, and field auditing. Carli also assists with client communications, inventory materials, and training. She specializes in logistics, field operations, and execution on forest inventory projects- both local and out of state. She also provides support on GIS projects through map production and spatial analysis.

Carli holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in Forest Management with a minor in Geographic Information Systems.

Prior to her current position, Carli was a seasonal forester for the Colorado State Forest Service. She also has experience in urban forestry and plant health care.

In her free time, Carli enjoys camping, hiking, and listening to music.

GIS Technician

Paul F. Schultz

Paul Schultz serves as a GIS technician at Steigerwaldt Land Services. He is responsible for supporting the IGS division through map production and other geospatial tasks. Paul specializes in GIS development and management and loves collaborating with staff to provide solutions tailored to meet the needs of clients.

Paul holds a Bachelor's and Master’s Degree in Forestry from Michigan State University. Paul’s graduate research focused on the establishment requirements of triploid-hybrid aspen.

Prior to his current position, Paul spent 33 years as a Forester and Statewide Forestry Specialist with the Wisconsin DNR.

In his free time, Paul enjoys all things outdoors and has recently taken up the fun (and frustrating) sport of golf.
