Our Core

Dave Dhaseleer has been with Steigerwaldt for 35 years. He currently holds the title of Senior Forester.

What do you specialize in?

I am working part time in large tract forest management.

What does a day in your role look like?

My focus is on providing expertise in forest management and real estate to advise and assist clients on everyday activities related to large tract ownership. I typically check my communications for actions that need to be taken or provide updates regarding the need for management activities regarding harvests, Wisconsin Managed Forest Law, property security, and real estate interest. There are still opportunities for me to occasionally take part in the field work to write management plans, set-up timber sales, and administer the sales.

What initially drew you to your field?

I love the outdoors and felt I had a good idea of what a forester would do. Plus, I couldn’t think of anything else I wanted to do at the time besides hunting and fishing.

What energizes you and keeps your passion going?

Forestry is always changing, from technology to various levels of social acceptance. I stay rooted in the day to day and look forward to the next new challenge. There is such a wide range of opportunities to pursue. I also enjoy the relationships that I have built over the past 35 years with clients, peers and just about anyone remotely involved with forestry.

What is your favorite part of your role or favorite thing about working at Steigerwaldt?

Currently I am working part time at Steigerwaldt as I wind down toward full retirement. Throughout my career at Steigerwaldt, I was supported in each role that I stepped into. The team work was also great, especially when putting in long days in the field. I think each step along the way, or each advancement, was a favorite part because of the new opportunity to engage with clients and other foresters. I currently enjoy the focus I have with my clients and providing a full range of services to meet all of their land management needs.

What are three attributes that describe your team?

Collaboration and a shared purpose in providing quality services to our clients, and the mindset to always try to make the best possible outcome.
